The Tough Run

Today we did the Tough Run, where we run through an estry, over fences and ropes and swimming through a river. As well as diving through foamy soap. We did the Tough Run at South New Brighton Park.

Positives were swimming, jumping and running through the water. It was tons of fun, I also liked jumping over all of these fences and ropes that were tied to trees. And I absolutely

Minus probably the waiting in the spot for our wave (4) to go through the run.

The interesting part was it itself. I loved all of it, from the estry to the obstacles. I had a great time with my friends. We were allowed to run in costumes as well. Me and a group of friends wore matching t-shirts and tutus.

It was tons and tons of fun, I can't wait to do it next year.

With the water it smelt really bad, but that did not stop me from diving straight in. At the start it was kind of chilly, then it warmed up and we just started sprinting. We had to go in some water that was up to our waists and I just floated my way to the outside.
There was also some foam/soap water. As soon as I saw it I sprinted right for it. It was great to dive in it, I ran and slide in it 3 times. Then we finished the run with a spraying from the fire department and a banana.

Sustainable Pot Plant

W.A.L.T. show a way we can show stewardship.

Over the past few weeks we have been making pot plants, I will post my photo on a separate post. We first had to design the pot plant we had chosen to make. Mine doesn't particularly look like my drawing. I thought the original looked kind of boring so I added a lot.

1~ Why should we be sustainable?

For the environment and the world. Eventually, there is not going to be a world to call home. Because of our common usage of plastics, gases and harmful things. We have become more advanced in pollution. So we should be more sustainable so there is a longer future for the next thousands of generations!

2~ How have we shown that we are sustainable?

By making recycled pot plants. By taking a plastic environmentally harmful object and making it into something that holds the environment. For example, take the things that are killing our environment and putting something from it into it.

3~ Why should we help our environment?

To keep the generations constant. So that there are other generations to come by. So they save the environment. And it helps with our health, not as many gases poisoning our lungs.

4~ Explain your process!

First off, we designed our pot plant.

Secondly, we grabbed a bottle and cut it into the desired shape.

Third, paint our desired design. I did a panda with rainbow hair.

Now put the soil into your pot, and plant the seed.

Second to lastly, water the seed.

Last off, wait for it to grow.

First Aid with St John

W.A.L.T. understand how to act in a emergency.

Today Paula came in from St. John to teach us about DRSABCD.

Which stands for:

D- Danger

R- Response

S- Send for Help

A- Airway

B- Breathing

C- C.P.R

D- Defib

In a situation this is what you do.

1. Look for danger, smell for danger and listen for danger. Smell for toxic gases or others, look out for cars and dangerous things.

2. Check to see if they are responsive by using the back of your palm and banging there collar bone calling at them asking if they are responsive.

3. Not responding, call 111. Accidentally called 911, it is okay. It will just take longer to transfer the call.

4. Using two hands tilt the patients head backwards. To help clear their airways. One hand on the forehead and another under the chin. Push up gently. We do this so that your tongue does not cover your airways.

5. Now check their breathing. No need for checking the pulse. Put your ear on there mouth and another on there chest. Look straight down there chest to see your hand moving up and down. If they are breathing, roll them on their side. By, your knees up against their side, move aside their arm. Pull up their leg so that their foot touches the under part of the thigh. Then by grabbing their shoulder and upright knee pull them over onto their side. Then flatten their leg and knee and make sure they aren't looking at the ceiling.

6. Doing C.P.R. is a lot harder then meets the eye. You have to put your knuckles around the fingers on the other hand. Then compressing the songs like baby shark and row row row your boat. Put your hands in the squeezed finger position and go up and down. Not bouncing on them, not leaning on your heels, and not with massive gaps in between pushes along with no rock star hair flips. With doing adult C.P.R. use 2 hands. Child requires 1 hand and a baby 2 fingers.

7. A defib is what you need if dealing with C.P.R. This is a vital thing. It shocks the person if there is no heart beat found. The defib will instruct you on where to place the pads on the person with a picture. Also the defib tells you if shocking is necessary. If a heart beat is found the shock is unneeded.

Today we also learnt how to wrap a bandage, I was Paula's volunteer. We had to put a spongey pad type thing on our arms and then a buddy would wrap it, then we would swap.

We also took turns giving C.P.R. to mannequins. Then did some with a buddy taking turns on one.
